The Greatest Love of All Time

Today I decided to write a new post. I have been posting ones I have written throughout the years, but today I decided to write a new one. This month we are focusing on Love and what it says about it in the bible.

Well in Song of Songs 8:6-7 it says "Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm. For love is as strong as death, its jealousy as enduring as the grave. Love flashes like fire, the brightest kind of flame. Many waters cannot quench love, nor can rivers drown it. If a man tried to buy love with all his wealth, his offer would be utterly scorned."

Now when I first read this passage of scripture, I assumed the author was talking to a woman, that makes sense. But then I looked at it from another angle, what if this was God talking to you? What if God was telling you how deep his love for you is? Then this passage takes on a deeper meaning for me.... this is how God loves all his people! He loves us with a love that no amount of water (sin) can put out. He loves us with a love that no rivers (temptations) can drown. He loves us with a love that is stronger than death (He resurrected Jesus as proof that death has no hold on us!) He is jealous and won't share our love with any other (Satan). His love glows within us. God's love cannot be bought with money or 'things'. God's love is given freely to those who love him. That's what I got from this passage.

God's love for me was so great that he gave his only son as a sacrifice for my sins. And his son, Jesus, gave his life freely for me, so that I might have everlasting life with him and God. That for me is the true meaning of love, not what someone can buy me, or money they can give me. Love is about their actions towards me. A kind word, a hug, a conversation, any act of kindness shows true love...... God's love coming through you.

Anyway, that is what this passage means to me, it's much more than just a man telling a woman he loves her, it's God telling me how much he loves me. Think about this passage next time you read it and see what you think. Until next time, have an awesome day, God bless you, and remember God loves you and there's nothing you can do about it. He's always there waiting for you to begin the conversation...
