One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. They have come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the POWER of the LORD was with Jesus to HEAL THE SICK. Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus. When Jesus SAW their FAITH, HE said, “FRIEND, your sins are FORGIVEN.”The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, “who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”…Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts? Which is easier; to say, your sins are FORGIVEN, or to say, get up and walk? But I want you to know that the SON of Man has authority on earth to FORGIVE sins. So He said to the paralyzed man. “I tell you, GET UP take your mat and go home.” Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home PRAISING GOD.Everyone was AMAZED and gave PRAISE to GOD. They were filled AWE and said, “We have seen REMARKABLE things today.”
Luke 5:17-26
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17
Meditation:
Jesus is the “Spiritual fountain of Living Water”; LOVE, FAITH, HOPE, HEALING, JOY, PEACE...!
Jesus called out “friend” to the paralyzed man. He is a friend of sinners, He loves the sinners but rejects the sins…
Accepting Jesus is a Personal decision, as is surrendering, repentance and confession of sins from which you receive, forgiveness, Salvation, and eternal life. Jesus wants to heal us indeed…
Self-reflection :
What kind of healing do you need?
There are days when we wake up with struggles… There are times when we grieve for and with others… In all of these times, there is Spiritual medicine.
Spiritual Medicine is prayer, reading the Scriptures, meditation…spending time every day with our Creator.
We remember that we are living under God’s will, His call, mission or purpose of our lives is to spread the “Good news of Salvation” the Gospel of Jesus…
Becoming a follower of Jesus Christ means putting our Faith in Action, sharing our personal testimony, being a good human being, a good friend, a good neighbor…
What is the purpose of your life?
We believe that when we PUT our FAITH in ACTION through Spiritual medicine; praying for healing, GOD hears and answers, even if we don’t always recognize the answer…
Just as those who came to Jesus for healing in the Gospels, we come to Jesus looking for, spiritual, physical, emotional and psychological healing.
Luke 5:17-26 helps us to remember; there is a Savior and a Powerful Spiritual Healer JESUS the SON of GOD! Who has the authority to FORGIVE sins, SAVE lives and HEAL...!
When people were very ill, many times we didn’t really know what to pray for, we left it in God’s hands, and the healing for them came in their being welcomed into eternal life…
For us, the healing came in the peace of knowing that they had lived their lives believing in God’s love for them. When dealing with physical suffering, the healing might come in giving us the courage to deal with the pain and letting go of the one suffering…
Whatever our need may be, Jesus is by our side, walking with us because He knows our pain, our doubts, our fears, our insecurities. Just as he looked to his Father for answers, he invites us to do likewise and just as Jesus’ requests on behalf of all those who came to him in today’s Gospel were granted, so will his requests on our behalf will be granted as well.
Prayer:
LORD, thank you for your healing presence in our lives. You are the Spiritual Fountain of “Living Water”, HOPE, blessings, comfort, and PEACE.
You answer all our prayers. Help us to continue spreading the “Good News of Salvation” and pray for others In Jesus’ name. Amen!
