“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. John 13: 34
This command does not say love only those you choose, it says love one another. That means everyone not just the chosen few. Not just the prosperous, or the wisest, or the strongest, or the most beautiful, or the just the white or brown, or yellow. Not just the American, Mexican, African, Russian, German, Dutch, Indian, Hindu, or any other culture in the world. It means EVERYBODY!!!! And yes even your enemies.
There are no disposable or invisible people in God's eyes. Everybody is EQUAL in His eyes! He created everyone, even the crippled, the handicapped, the mentally challenged, the genius and the one who cannot think or speak. He created the ones we consider gifted and those whose 'gifts' we cannot see. He created us all and loves us all equally.
When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.
Leviticus 19:33-34
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Matthew 25: 40
These two verses are reminders that we need to think of others who are in need of help not only in times of struggle but every day. We need to welcome the foreigner not make them feel 'disposable' or bad before we even know them. We need to care for those in need of help whether mental, physical, or emotional, instead of makeing them feel 'invisible' and 'disposable'.
We are all God's people and we need to show one another the compassion and love that Jesus showed us by dying on the cross and paying for our sins when he himself was without sin. He did not die for just a chosen few but for everyone.....even those who sin and ask for forgiveness.
"What the world needs now is love sweet love. That's the only thing that there's just too little of." (Burt Bacharach)
Now more than ever..... we need to love one another and show compassion to those in need just like we have been taught since the beginning of time. Be the light so that others may find their way......God bless you.
