God sows seeds irresponsibly..... God scatters his seeds to the wind and to everyone abundantly not just one at a time. He sows his love and grace in the same manner and the supply is endless!
When Jose and I first started Peaceful Pastures I was so excited!
I was finally going to 'sow seeds' for God! I was going to change peoples lives! My expectations were totally unrealistic about how things were going to be.
I worked hard writing blogs and editing Jose's blogs to achieve the goal of a thriving website with thousands of followers only to see that at first there was only a few that even checked it out. It seemed that my expectations were all wrong. I even began to doubt my purpose and thought about giving up writing or continuing the website.
I mentioned this to a friend who was a pastor and he said " If only 1 person reads your story and is changed by it, that is 1 person who would not have had that chance if you had not written it.
One person is just a important as a thousand are they not?" That totally changed my expectations.
I no longer write for the thousands, I write for 1 person, the person who needs to hear what I have to say. The person who needs to know that God loves them no matter what. The person who is feeling depressed and just needs to hear someone cares. The person who is struggling and needs to know that God has their back. The person who is broken who needs to know God makes beauty from the broken pieces. The person who has turned from God and thinks there is no way back, that needs to know that God is right there waiting for them with open arms.
I learned is not my job to save the world but merely to spread laughter, encouragement, understanding, empathy, friendship, life lessons, and love, irresponsibly and abundantly to all. God will decided when and where it will grow.
So whether one or one million people read our blog, or gain anything from it, Jose and I will continue writing and praying that God uses us in whatever way he chooses. Sowing seeds irresponsibly and abundantly. So for all those who wonder if anything they do matters just remember you are not supposed to save the world just merely sow the seeds abundantly in anyway you can.......sow love, understanding, friendship and kindness and God will reap a harvest greater than you ever expected.
Prayer:
God thank you for giving me the opportunity to sow "your seeds" irresponsibly and abundantly. Keep me focused on your will and not my own. Help me to help those in need see your love, grace, and mercy that you give us abundantly every day. Help me to always encourage others and lift them up to you every day, in the name of your son Jesus, I pray your will be done. Amen
