"If you Believe..."

Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that If you believe, you will see the Glory of God?"

John 11:40

Meditation.

John 11:40 is one of those verses that gently confronts us. Jesus speaks these words to Martha at the tomb of Lazarus, right in the middle of her grief, confusion, and disappointment. She believed in Jesus, but she struggled to believe in that moment, in that circumstance, with that pain...

And Jesus responds with a promise that still speaks to us today: "If you believe, you will see God’s glory..."

This isn’t a formula. It’s an invitation. Jesus is saying, “Trust Me even when the situation looks impossible. Trust Me even when you don’t understand. Trust Me even when it feels too late.”

Living out this principle in daily life

1. Believe in the middle of your “not yet.”

Many of us have prayers that feel delayed. A breakthrough that hasn’t come. A relationship that hasn’t healed, a body that hasn't healed, a emotional hurt that hasn't healed, a door that hasn’t opened...

John 11 reminds us that God’s timing is not a denial. It’s preparation. Every day, choose to say:

“Lord, I don’t see it, I don't feel it yet... but I trust You.”

2. Speak faith even when feelings disagree.

Martha’s emotions were real—grief, confusion, fear. Jesus didn’t rebuke her emotions; He redirected her focus. When your feelings shout doubt, speak faith anyway:

  • “God is working.”

  • “God is faithful.”

  • “God has not forgotten me.”

Faith-filled words strengthen faith-filled living.

3. Remove the “stone” you can control.

Before Jesus raised Lazarus, He asked them to roll away the stone. Sometimes God asks us to take a step of obedience before He reveals His glory. Your “stone” might be:

  • Resentments... forgiving someone...

  • starting a new habit

  • letting go of a fear

  • making a phone call

  • returning to prayer

Do what you can, and trust God with what you cannot...

4. Expect God’s glory in unexpected places.

Martha expected healing... Jesus brought resurrection...

God’s answer may not look like your expectation—but it will always reveal His goodness. Look for His glory in small moments: a conversation, a provision, a new strength, a restored peace.

A gentle encouragement for today

John 11:40 is Jesus whispering to your heart: “Believe again. Hope again. Trust again.”   Not because everything makes sense, but because He is faithful. When you choose belief over fear, obedience over hesitation, and hope over discouragement, you position your life to see God’s glory—sometimes in quiet ways, sometimes in miraculous ways, but always in ways that remind you He is near...!

Prayer.

Heavenly Father, Thank You! for inviting me to trust You more deeply. You know every place where my faith feels small, tired, or uncertain. Today I bring all of that to You, believing that You meet me with patience, love, and strength.

Increase my faith, Lord. Strengthen my heart when fear rises... Steady my mind when doubts whisper. Lift my spirit when I feel overwhelmed...

Teach me to believe before I see, to trust before I understand, to hope before anything changes...

Help me walk in confidence, not because I am strong, but because You are faithful...

Help me remember Your promises, Your goodness, Your timing, Your glory...

Let my faith grow one step at a time— in my prayers, in my decisions, in my relationships, in my everyday moments...

I surrender every worry and every mountain before me. I choose to trust Your hands, Your heart, and Your plan...

Thank You! for being the God who never fails, the God who walks with me, the God who grows my faith day by day...

In Jesus Mighty name, Amen!

Jose Reyes.
