"Filled with Joy"

Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of Joy. Then it was said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them." The LORD has done great things for us and were filled with Joy.

Psalm 126:2-3

Meditation.

Life can sometimes feel heavy. Challenges, disappointments, financial struggles, health concerns, and unanswered prayers can weigh down our hearts...

Yet Psalm 126 reminds us that God is a God of restoration. The people of Israel had experienced a season of captivity and sorrow, but God brought them back into freedom. Their response was laughter, joy, and thanksgiving.

Notice that the psalmist does not focus on the difficulty of the past but on the faithfulness of God. The people recognized that their blessing did not come from their own strength. They declared, "The Lord has done great things for us."

As Christians today, we are called to do the same. We can easily focus on what is missing, what is broken, or what has not happened yet. But gratitude shifts our perspective. When we stop and remember God's goodness, our hearts begin to fill with hope instead of worry.

How do we live out this passage?

First, remember God's faithfulness.

Take time to reflect on prayers God has answered and ways He has provided in the past.

Keeping a gratitude journal can help you see His hand at work.

Second, express joy openly.

The people in Psalm 126 laughed and sang. Christian joy is not based on perfect circumstances but on God's unchanging character. Let your words, attitude, and worship reflect trust in Him.

Third, share your testimony.

The surrounding nations noticed what God had done. Your story of God's grace may encourage someone who is struggling. Do not hide the blessings and lessons God has given you.

Finally, choose gratitude every day.

Even in difficult seasons, we can thank God for His presence, His promises, and His love. Gratitude opens our eyes to His continual work in our lives.

Today, pause and ask yourself:

What great things has God done for me?

As you reflect on His goodness, may your heart be filled with joy, your mouth with praise, and your life become a testimony of His faithfulness.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You! for the great things You have done in our lifes. Help us remember Your faithfulness, walk in joy, and share Your goodness with others. Fill our hearts with gratitude and our mouths with praise. In Jesus' name, Amen!
