Adventure of a Lifetime

Updated: Oct 30

When you hear the words "Adventure of a Lifetime" what comes to mind?? A cruise maybe?? or running a marathon?? Maybe playing in a pro golf tournament?? Bowling a perfect game??Riding a zip line through the mountains?? Maybe traveling to Rome to see the Vatican or to Jerusalem to see the "Wailing Wall" or to get Baptized in the River Jordan?? Riding that perfect wave all the way to shore in Hawaii?? All of these would be fantastic adventures.

However that is not the adventure I am talking about.

Every time you try something new you are going on an adventure! Every time you take a risk whether that be financial, emotional, or physical you are embarking on an adventure. Now be honest, I'm sure most people do not even think about everything being an adventure...it's just life...right??

Not for me! I find adventure in just about everything I do on a daily basis! I know you are thinking "she's really lost it this time! She thinks everything is an adventure." Well, rest assured I haven't "lost it", on the contrary I've finally found it!

I finally know what it means in scripture Matthew 18:2-6 : " He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."

To me this means that we who believe in Jesus Christ are all children in God's eyes. Just like any mother or father when it comes to their children, no matter how old the child becomes in the eyes of the parents they are still their babies.

Now I understand the whole process of aging...we are born a child, helpless and dependent on others for our care, and when we age we become like the children we started out as...some of us needing help with our care while others independently dependent on others...but we are just preparing ourselves to be like a child going home to our heavenly Father! The older I get the more my eyes are opened to the wonders of this world! My eyes become more like a child...I see more beauty and miracles than ever before.....I take the time to enjoy the amazing things all around me!

And as a child every day is an adventure for me...maybe riding a bicycle...or walking a trail...sometimes just walking to my mailbox! And maybe for some the adventure starts by just waking up and getting out of bed.

So every morning when I wake up I thank God for blessing me with another day and for the adventures he has planned for me to go on...I thank him for the many blessings he has given me and for the many blessings that are yet to come... I thank him for opening my eyes and my mind to see as a child. So yes, everything I do is an adventure of some sort, and I welcome them all with open arms!

My hope and prayer for all of you is that you may experience life as a child...that you may see every day as an adventure ...that you may have many, many adventures on your journey through life. Well, my friends, it's time to go. I have more adventures for today. Until next time, take care and love others, and most of all love yourself...after all great adventures are ahead for you! Enjoy them all and God Bless!
