For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the LORD and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom on the Son he LOVES, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 1:9-14

Prioritizing Your New Year Resolutions: A Child of God's Perspective
As the New Year approaches, many of us begin to reflect on the past year and make resolutions for the coming one. For a child of God, the New Year is a perfect opportunity to prioritize our spiritual growth and strengthen our relationship with God. By focusing on faith, hope, love, joy, peace, and sharing the Gospel, we can set meaningful resolutions that align with our Spiritual values and truly transform our lives.
Developing a Closer Relationship with God
The foundation of any Spiritual journey is a close relationship with God. This New Year, prioritize spending quality time with Him through prayer, meditation, and reading the Bible. These practices allow us to deepen our understanding of His will and align our lives with His purposes. Consider setting aside a specific time each day dedicated to prayer and reflection. By making this a priority, we invite God’s guidance and wisdom into every aspect of our lives.
Spiritual Growth: Faith, Hope, and Love
Faith is the cornerstone of our spiritual growth. As we set resolutions, let us commit to nurturing our faith by trusting in God’s plan and promises. Attend church services regularly, join a Bible study group, or engage in discussions with fellow believers. These activities can strengthen our faith and encourage us to live a life that reflects God’s love.
Hope is what keeps us moving forward, even in challenging times. This year, focus on cultivating hope by remembering God’s faithfulness in the past and trusting His promises for the future. Reflect on scriptures that speak of hope and let them inspire you to remain optimistic and resilient, regardless of life’s circumstances.
Love is the greatest commandment, and it should be at the heart of all we do. Make it a resolution to love others as Christ loves us. This can be demonstrated through acts of kindness, forgiveness, and compassion. By loving those around us, we become living examples of God’s love and grace.
Embracing Joy and peace are gifts from God that can transform our lives. This New Year, focus on cultivating joy by celebrating the blessings in your life and finding contentment in God’s presence. Practice gratitude daily, and remember that true joy comes from a relationship with God, not from external circumstances.
Peace is another vital aspect of our spiritual well-being. Strive to live peacefully with others and seek God’s peace in times of turmoil. Trust in His sovereignty and let go of worries that weigh you down. By embracing peace, we can experience serenity and stability amid life’s storms.
As Chilfren of God, we are called to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with others. This year, make it a priority to share the Gospel in your community and beyond. Whether through words, actions, or service, be a beacon of God’s love and truth to those around you. Consider volunteering at a local mission, supporting a charitable cause, or simply reaching out to someone in need. Every act of kindness is an opportunity to reflect God’s love and share His message of salvation.
Final thoughts.
As we embark on a new year, let us set resolutions that honor our faith and prioritize our spiritual growth. By focusing on developing a closer relationship with God, nurturing faith, hope, and love, embracing joy and peace, and sharing the Gospel, we can make a profound impact on our lives and the lives of those around us. May this New Year be a season of transformation and renewal, drawing us closer to God and each other!
Prayer:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not in temptation, but deliver us from the evil, for yours is the kingdom and the power, and the glory forever, in JESUS' name we pray, Amen!
Jose Reyes.
