When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12
Meditation:
Last month was a big out-stages caused for tornadoes and T-Storms. Many people spent hours, some even days in darkness, and hot summer days, with no Air Conditioner. This caused, discomfort, stress, anger, anxiety, fear, confusion, etc.
Nowadays, the world is living in a different kind of darkness, a Spiritual darkness resulting in chaos, crime, shootings, the opioid crisis, pandemics, racism, grief, anxiety, divisionism, etc. Where is the Light?
The Answer: The Holy Bible says: But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God. John 3:21
Jesus is the light of the world.
Jesus shined brightly for us, a gleaming example to which we should aspire, and his light was not extinguished even when he was harassed by the Pharisees. No, he remained confident, knowing full well that he was the truth and the light.
Many Christians do not shine bright enough in their daily lives. Much of society frowns upon it but, is accepting of public displays of sex, greed, and violence. We should not put our faith under a vessel! We owe it to God and his son, who is our light in the darkness! We owe it to all those around us, to help lead them when they cannot see. Last, we owe it to ourselves, to surround ourselves with light and drive away darkness. Everything else, we leave to God.
If you notice darkness around you, do not be afraid to step up and shine, even in public. As Jesus stood up when harassed by the Pharisees, we too, can stand up and shine when we know we are right. Prayer: Dearest Father, help us listen to the words of your Son, our savior. He is our light, guide, strength, deliver, protector, and redeemer. Jesus is the Answer. Humble us, O Lord, so that we realize that we are lost without your guidance, lambs without a shepherd. In times of darkness, help us to stand for what we know is good, and shine as an example to others. In your holy name we pray, Amen!
