"But the FRUIT of the SPIRIT is LOVE, JOY, PEACE, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
Galatians 5:22-23
Meditation:
In Galatians 5:22–23, Paul offers us a portrait of a Spirit-filled life: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” these virtues aren’t just lofty ideals.
They’re invitations to transform our daily interactions into reflections of God’s grace.
Today, let’s zoom in on forbearance, kindness, and goodness, and explore how we can let them blossom in our lives.
Forbearance: Grace in the Waiting. Forbearance is more than patience; it’s enduring discomfort without retaliation. It’s that quiet strength when someone cuts you off in traffic or speaks harshly at work. Practicing forbearance means choosing not to react in anger but instead offering the same grace God extends to us.
Example: A colleague, relative, friend... repeatedly interrupts your thoughts. Rather than snapping, take a deep breath, listen, and speak calmly... Your restraint plants seeds of PEACE...
Kindness: Love in Action. Kindness is empathy with feet—it walks into someone’s pain and offers a hand. It’s a smile to a stranger, a thoughtful note to a friend, or a meal for someone in need. It transforms spaces and hearts.
Example: You notice a cashier seems exhausted. Instead of rushing through, offer a sincere “thank you” and ask how their day is going. A small gesture; a big impact.
Goodness: Integrity and Generosity Combined. Goodness is the overflow of a heart aligned with God. It’s not just doing what’s right for all to see—it’s doing it even when no one’s watching. It’s generosity without expectation.
Example: You see a person in need in the supermarket or grocery store who’s struggling to pay. You pay for their groceries out of kindness, expecting nothing in return, just goodness poured out.
The fruit of the Holy Spirit isn’t a check list...
It’s a lifestyle cultivated by staying connected to the Vine of God and Jesus Christ... When we walk in step with the Holy Spirit, these qualities become second nature, radiating, and shinning God’s HOPE in a Dark and chaotic world that desperately needs it.
What would happen if we each practiced just one of these today?
Prayer:
Father in heaven Fill our Hearts, Minds, and souls, with your Holy Spirit’s Fruits that we can continue fixing our spiritual eyes on You, and continue to apply these principles in our daily life. Joyfully spreading the Gospel to all people in all nations! In Jesus Name we pray, Amen!
