Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where JESUS had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then JESUS came to them and said. “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and MAKE DISCIPLES of all Nations, baptizing them in the name of the FATHER and of the SON and the HOLY SPIRIT, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:16-19.
.
Meditation:
After JESUS declared HIS Authority in heaven and earth, he gave HIS disciples the “Great Commission”: Therefore go and MAKE DISCIPLES of all Nations, baptizing them in the name of the FATHER and of the SON and the HOLY SPIRIT, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Without the witness of the early disciples, we would not know of Jesus…
We have all been chosen to be disciples of God, to spread the Good News concerning the coming of the Kingdom…His GLORIOUS 2nd COMING that everyone knows is coming but nobody knows when it will be; only GOD Knows.
The Great Commission could be a huge challenge for anyone.
Questions arise in our hearts and minds.....How do we do it? What will others think about us? We might be afraid that we are not up to the task, much as Jeremiah was. But just as God spoke to Jeremiah promising to help him, HE is with us as well…especially for new converts to JESUS’ Gospel. JESUS told us that HE is with us. All who receive HIM through Baptism. He is with us through the HOLY SPIRIT to teach, lead, empower, and comfort us…
Pray for guidance and courage to share the good news.
After Prayer, look for opportunities to share your personal testimony…Wherever you go; store, sport events, festival, park, library, museum… God is by your side helping you, giving you the words you need at the right time.
Other ways to be a disciple are in your works and deeds such as :
Volunteering in homeless shelters, serving others.
Being respectful, kind, generous, and being sensible about people’s needs.
Our job is to look for opportunities…
For a long time through social media; Facebook at “Prayer Place” Bernice prays for a lot of people consistently every day. She shares these prayers with others so that they too will read the prayers, thus praying for the people also.
We have been sharing the gospel at “Peaceful Pastures” for more than 3 years… consistently… and are our Passion and Life purpose is the “Great Commission” for Love and Gratitude to GOD!
Every time we have a meal at a restaurant or park, we pray. And many times, we have a wonderful conversation about our faith, our trust and confidence in God. I don’t know if anyone else hears us, but it doesn't matter. Sometimes these conversations begin when a friend tells us about a loved one being sick and we offer to pray for them, or someone asks us to pray…
More often a discussion might evolve because of a tragedy, either from a weather incident or after one of the many fires, hurricanes, violence, or terrorists attacks the world has dealt with in the past few years. In any case, it’s important for us to be open about our faith and also willing to listen to the views of others.
We all have been appointed; we need to accept the call to spread the Good News.
Without our witness, how will future generations come to know Jesus?
Prayer:
Our Father in heaven thank you for the “Great Commission”, it is an honor and a blessing to serve you joyfully spreading the GOOD NEWS of SALVATION and the GOSPEL to everyone! This Call is our purpose of life, continue leading, teaching, empowering and comforting us so we may continue with new strength do it your WILL not our will, all the GLORY, and the HONOR, is for you!
Bless all the people, especially the new ones beginning their “Great Commission”, in JESUS’ name, we pray. Amen!
Jose Reyes.
